Mission: To provide a collaborative and educational multidisciplinary environment for artists and the public. We support collaboration between artists and their community and facilitate the creation of art in areas where there is little to no access to the arts.
To inspire and affirm the importance of a developed, cohesive and accessible artistic community and to assure readily available and affordable resources for aspiring and emerging artists. We aim to accomplish this purpose by supporting and promoting funding for artists and art.
We focus on encouraging collaboration between artists and their community including public art festivals, creative based workshops, youth oriented programming, mentorship and collaboration with public and private art organizations and government and service based community organizations. As demonstrated in the Otis College
of Design’s Creative Economy Report of 2011, art and cultural activities are key components to the revitalization efforts of individual communities. 11:11 ACC has and will continue to partner with Neighborhood Councils, Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Districts, local and state elected representatives, for profit and Not for Profit businesses to establish art as an integral aspect of emergent communities.
11:11 ACC intends to be a voice devoted to creating and strengthening support systems for artists and art, which includes fine arts, performance arts and visual and multimedia arts, catering to a full gamut of established, emerging, nontraditional and marginalized artists. We aim to provide an affordable membership based program where collaboration with fellow artists as well as the community is in the forefront of the creative process.
We offer services, programs and workshops that assist each of our members’ professional growth and the reinvigoration of community and its populace through the arts. By partnering with public and private organizations, we focus on expanding our programming to benefit the community at large.
11:11 ACC was formed independently in 2009 by four individuals who noticed a need for a cohesive and collaborative art community within the San Fernando Valley, CA. With a population of close to two million people, these four individuals became aware that cultural activity was found in the areas surrounding The San Fernando Valley, leaving their home town void of a groundbreaking, inspired and an active artistic community.
Based on their existing personal relationships, the Collective set out to curate their first San Fernando Valley based art exhibition. In order to fund their first art show, 11:11 raised over $1,000 by hosting an independent fundraiser where friends, family and peers joined in a daytime pool party and barbecue. Their first exhibition included over 45 San Fernando Valley based artists at varied levels within their careers with an estimated attendance of 250 people. 11:11 ACC has continued to put on art exhibits at different venues that were free and open to the public. They also garnered relationships with community organizations and stakeholders, and continued to independently fundraise to produce over 75 exhibits, festivals, art walks and concerts to date.
